Automotive Engraving in Tasmania
Tasmanian riders and owners work with Phil entirely at a distance, from the first message through to the finished component coming home. The automotive engraving is carried out personally by Phil at the Forever Milestones workshop in Jamisontown, New South Wales, on components Phil supplies or that customers provide.
There is no Tasmanian workshop, branch or service team. Discuss the component and the design with Phil before anything is packed or sent.
For Harley-Davidson projects, Phil can generally supply a new, genuine component as part of the agreed project. Customers may also send their own suitable part. Car and other automotive components are generally customer supplied. Every project should be discussed with Phil before a component is purchased, delivered or posted.
The engraving process

Because the component makes a return trip across Bass Strait, it helps to see the full journey laid out before you commit to any of it.

Start with a conversation, not a parcel
Contact Phil while the component is still with you in Tasmania. Nothing should be packed or booked until he has seen it and confirmed the project.

Describe the component and the engraving
Explain what the piece is, what it came off and what the finished engraving should say or show, whether that is a name, a date, an emblem or your own design.

Supply photographs, artwork or ideas
Photographs of the engraving face in daylight, taken straight on and from an angle, plus any artwork or wording list, let Phil assess the piece properly from the mainland. You need permission to use any logo or protected design.

Phil assesses your individual component
Material, finish, thickness and the usable engraving area determine what can be done. You get an honest answer about your part before you commit to sending it.

Send only once suitability is confirmed
With the work agreed, pack the component protectively and send it to Jamisontown using the method you and Phil have discussed. Timing and cost sit with the delivery service you choose.

Engraving and checking in the workshop
Phil completes the engraving himself and inspects the finished piece before repacking it.

Return delivery or collection is arranged
Return delivery to Tasmania is agreed with you before the component leaves the workshop. Collection in person can be arranged with Phil if you happen to be travelling to New South Wales.

Other motorcycle and automotive components are considered one at a time. Confirm suitability with Phil before sending anything from Tasmania.

Customers in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport, Burnie and regional Tasmania may contact Phil about sending an eligible component to Jamisontown. These are geographic service examples only. Forever Milestones has no Tasmanian premises, staff or representatives.
What this page can be clear about is the sequence: discuss, assess, confirm, send, engrave, return. What it deliberately does not do is put a figure on how long a Bass Strait crossing takes, what a carrier will charge, or whether goods in transit are covered. Those are matters for you and the delivery service you choose.
Suitability is treated the same way. Phil will tell you what he thinks your component will take once he has seen photographs of it, but nothing is described as suitable before that assessment has happened.
Preparing a component in Tasmania
- Speak with Phil before packing or sending anything.
- Protect the engraving face first so nothing presses or rubs against it.
- Pad every side firmly rather than using loose fill that shifts.
- Choose a box with space for padding around the component.
- Ask Phil whether fittings, gaskets or hardware should remain attached.
- Put your name and contact details inside the parcel as well as outside.
- Keep any tracking information you are given for both legs of the trip.
This guidance applies only when you supply and post a component. It is general guidance to help protect your component in transit. Delivery, insurance and any cover for items in transit are matters between you and the delivery service you choose.

- Does Forever Milestones have a Tasmanian workshop?
- No. There is one workshop, at 24 Ikin Street, Jamisontown NSW 2750. There are no Forever Milestones premises in Hobart or Launceston, no Tasmanian representative and no local service team. Every engraving is completed personally by Phil in Jamisontown.
- What does Phil need to know before the item is sent?
- What the component is and what it came off, what the engraving should say or show, where you picture it sitting on the piece, and clear photographs of that surface. Any artwork file, exact wording list or sketch you can add makes the assessment easier.
- What components may be considered?
- Derby covers, timing covers, reflector inserts and other motorcycle and automotive components can all be raised. Each is assessed individually on its material, finish and usable engraving area rather than accepted on the basis of the component type.
- How is collection or return delivery arranged?
- Return delivery to Tasmania is discussed with you as part of the project and agreed before the finished component leaves the workshop. If you would rather collect the piece from Jamisontown yourself, that needs to be arranged with Phil in advance.
